Frequently asked questions about 'Vintage Vacations' and our trailers
Our '1965 TRADEWIND' boarding the IOW ferry

What does the sleeping accommodation consist of?

Our 1965 Tradewind has 2 fold out double beds, our 1962 Safari has a fold out double and a regular double bed, our 1951 Spartanette has a regular double and a double sofabed and both the 1959 Overlander and the 1963 Safari have a fold out double and 2 regular single beds each. All beds are either regular matresses or highest quality foam.

Is there room for a travel cot?

No problem on the 1951 Spartanette, possible but tight on the 1959 Overlander, possible on the 1965 Tradewind if you are only using 1 of the fold out doubles. Not possible on the 1963 Tradewind or the 1962 Safari without a very tight squeeze! We do have a travel cot available at no extra charge.

What are the facilities on site?

Errr - none! It is a farmers field, simple as that :-) We have power and water, use of a regular toilet facility and there are bins provided for garbage.UPDATE - 2 EXTRA NEW BEACH HUT LOO FACILTIES FOR 2007

What if something goes wrong?

We are always on call and if we are not available we always organise back up incase of any problems. Our trailers are game old gals but like any classic vehicle things sometimes to go wrong / drop off / behave strangely .... you can call us anytime :-)

Do the trailers have bathrooms and toilets?

Yes they do. The SAFARI has a wet room with a shower and the TRADEWIND has a tub/shower combo. However we must reiterate that the toilets on the trailers are not used, we use a toilet at the side of the farmhouse and our beach hut chemical loos that are attended to EVERY DAY.

Why can't we use the trailer loos?

You are responsible for emptying your own waste water tanks on the trailer. A simple task that becomes something else altogether if sewage is involved. We love retro but vintage loos are a step too far!

What do I need to bring?

We provide bedding, bed linen, towels, tea-towels and the trailers are well kitted out with kitchen equipment. We also supply a small ammount of basics such as tea, coffee and sugar along with our cream tea and milk welcome. There is a CD player, hairdryer and toaster on board. Beach towels are a good thing to bring, oh, so are wellies .....

Are the trailers on UK power?

To keep everything as original as possible we have stayed with the USA voltage. This means that each trailer has it's own transformer to convert UK power supply to US. There is a travel adaptor on board. Some items such as I-pods and certain DVD players and phone chargers do work but not all. There is a facility to plug in a phone charger to UK power if you need to.

We have never been to the island before - how will we know where to go and what to see?

We leave a stack of guides, leaflets and maps in each trailer. There are some of our own suggestions in the 'manual' for each trailer and previous guests pass on their top tips in the visitors books.

Are the trailers and 'the shack' situated at the same place?

No - they are in different places - the trailers are inland and 'the shack' is by the sea
