What does the sleeping accommodation consist of?
Some trailers have 'static' beds some have pull out doubles and 'static' singles - see each trailer description. All beds are either regular mattresses or highest quality foam mattresses.
Is there room for a travel cot?
No problem on the Spartanettes, possible with removal of one of the singles bed mattresses on the 1962 Overlander, 1963 Tradewind and both Overlanders. We do have a travel cot available at no extra charge but you will need to bring your own linen for this..
What are the facilities on site?
UPDATE - NEW SITE FOR 2010
What if something goes wrong?
We are always on call and if we are not available we always organise back up incase of any problems. Our trailers are game old gals but like any classic vehicle things sometimes to go wrong / drop off / behave strangely .... you can call us anytime :-)
Do the trailers have bathrooms and toilets?
Yes they do. However we must reiterate that the toilets on the trailers are not used, we will have a great new shower and toilet facility for 2010.
Why can't we use the trailer loos?
You are responsible for emptying your own waste water tanks on the trailer. A simple task that becomes something else altogether if sewage is involved. We love retro but vintage loos are a step too far!
What do I need to bring?
We provide bedding, bed linen, towels, tea-towels and the trailers are well kitted out with kitchen equipment. We also supply a small ammount of basics such as tea, coffee and sugar along with our cream tea and milk welcome. There is a CD player, hairdryer and toaster on board. Beach towels are a good thing to bring, oh, so are wellies .....
Are the trailers on UK power?
To keep everything as original as possible we have stayed with the USA voltage. This means that each trailer has it's own transformer to convert UK power supply to US. There is a travel adaptor on board. Some items such as I-pods and certain DVD players and phone chargers do work but not all. There is a facility to plug in a phone charger to UK power if you need to.
We have never been to the island before - how will we know where to go and what to see?
We leave a stack of guides, leaflets and maps in each trailer. There are some of our own suggestions in the 'black book' for each trailer and previous guests pass on their top tips in the visitors books.
Are the trailers and 'the shack' situated at the same place?
No - all of our locations are are in different places - the trailers are inland and 'the shack' is by the sea
